Lake Retreat
Guided Weekend Retreat
Fri evening 30 October
til Sun lunch 1 November
at Lake George
The moment we let go of our obsessive concern for our own welfare, our mind naturally
relaxes and becomes lighter.
Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
Enjoy immersing yourself in Buddha’s wisdom with a series of essential Buddhist meditations – at this guided meditation retreat on the shores of Lake George just outside Bungendore.
The retreat topic:
Meditations to overcome daily problems – and find deeper happiness.
The retreat will focus on the revered Buddhist practice of Exchanging Self with Others, the supreme method for overcoming the inner poison of self-cherishing and strengthening our love – from the text The New Eight Steps to Happiness.
Overcoming self-cherishing is the key to our spiritual progress and finding deeper happiness – as well as to solving our daily problems.
Our ordinary view is that we are the centre of the universe and that other people and things derive their significance principally from the way in which they affect us. This ordinary view is based in ignorance and is at the very core of our samsara – giving rise to all our delusions.
All worries, anxiety and sadness are based on self-cherishing. The moment we let go of our obsessive concern for our own welfare our mind naturally relaxes and becomes lighter.
